Intro

The good news: you've found a new consignment software that you love — ConsignCloud — and you expect it to make your life easier.. The bad news: you’re afraid the hassle of switching software will be a real pain. Maybe you could walk a few more miles with that rock in your shoe…

Here’s the reality: the fear of switching is often much worse than the switch itself. At ConsignCloud we’ve worked hard to make the process as simple and painless as possible. Here’s what it looks like.

You Can Take it With You

If you have existing software, there are two key types of data you can bring with you to ConsignCloud: consignor information (accounts) and inventory (items). Our onboarding team is happy to walk you through the process of both exporting this data from your current system and importing it into ConsignCloud. We run a test import first to make sure everything’s working correctly and give you plenty of time to check the transfer. Later on we’ll run a final import so you can hit the ground running with clean records and everything in place.

Pre-Flight Checklist

Right at the outset of the process, we encourage new customers to decide on a switch-over date. This ensures that everyone has plenty of time to get acquainted with the system and avoids any frantic scrambling.

While test data is being transferred and audited our team will help you move through a simple checklist. And while every store is different, we’ve handled enough transitions to know exactly what you’ll need to get done. This includes:

  • Setting up hardware: either reconfiguring and syncing your existing machines or purchasing new hardware.

  • Configuring payment processing: whether you use non-integrated processing and want to keep your existing provider or want to use our integrated processing, we’ll make sure your payment setup is ready for a seamless transition.

  • Designing and testing labels: ConsignCloud offers custom label design and cloud printing. We’ll make sure you know how to use this feature and print a few test runs.

  • Setting up policies, surcharges, discounts, etc.: making sure your store operates exactly how you want it to, from an automatic discount schedule to the correct tax rate.

  • Setting up ecommerce: connecting your new software to Shopify or Square so you can continue to sell online.

During this transition our 100% human support team makes sure you’re confident at every step. This is also an ideal time to include key employees in the learning process, run practice scenarios on our test software, and learn to wield any new tools ConsignCloud has to offer.

Go Time

Our goal is to make launch day as boring as possible (aside, of course, from the joy you feel at using ConsignCloud). We’ll plan your final data transfer (ideally at a time when your store is closed) and get your store up and running on ConsignCloud in less than a few hours.

The hardest part of switching is often just taking the initial plunge. But since launching in 2010 we’ve seen hundreds of stores come over to our platform and fall in love with their new digs. Whether it’s the detailed data that’s helped increase sales by 175%, the inventory management that enables massively scaling ecommerce, or the efficient tools that make managing a small shop doable, we’re confident the benefits will far outweigh the friction of change. If you think so too, we’d love to talk.
