Choosing Your Point of Sale

ConsignCloud gives you a real choice for how you check customers out: use the built-in ConsignCloud POS, or run sales through Square or Shopify instead. All three work well — which one's right for you depends on how your store operates.

Why we recommend ConsignCloud's POS

The ConsignCloud POS is built specifically for consignment and resale, so it's the only option with full access to consignment-specific features like split-aware discounts, age-based discount schedules, consignor surcharges, and layaway. If you want those tools working automatically without extra manual bookkeeping, this is the path we'd point you toward.

Using Square or Shopify instead

If you already run Square or Shopify — or just prefer their checkout experience — ConsignCloud integrates with both. Inventory and account balances stay in sync automatically: when an item sells on Square or Shopify, it's marked sold in ConsignCloud and the consignor's balance updates right along with it. The trade-off is that some ConsignCloud-specific POS features, like discount schedules and split-based discounts, aren't available through those platforms.

If you're using Square or Shopify

The next several lessons cover setting up and running sales through ConsignCloud's own POS — taxes, discounts, registers, and so on.
